Barcelona have completed the signing of Joao Felix on a loan deal from Atletico Madrid on deadline day. The move is a straight loan with no buy option, meaning the Portuguese will be returning to Atletico Madrid once his loan spell is over.
But, there is a possibility that the Catalonian side will be going in for a permanent transfer next summer when they have room on their wage bill. The club also signed Joao Cancelo from Manchester City on a loan deal, removing the buy option which was initially discussed between the two clubs for FFP regulations.
Barcelona sign Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid
The Portuguese spent the latter half of the 22/23 season on loan at Chelsea, but was unable to secure a permanent transfer. He had a remarkable performance in a tumultuous Chelsea team, which finished 12th in the Premier League.
And after returning, he revealed to Fabrizio Romano that he only wanted to play for Barcelona as a child. And this effectively exiled him from the Atletico Madrid squad, with other members of the squad fuming at his words.
“I’d love to play for Barça”.
“Barcelona has always been my first choice and I’d love to join Barça”.
“It was always my dream since I was a kid”.
“If it happens, it will be a dream come true for me,” he told the Italian transfer guru.
Joao Felix has been officially presented as a new signing for the club alongside his namesake, Cancelo. And it will now be interesting to see how things play out for the Culers this season.
