Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed his plans to make the club an unbeatable force once again. The club is currently in a transition phase, having lost their star player, Lionel Messi this summer. The Argentinian was capable of winning matches all by himself, but the team now has to compensate for him with multiple names on the front line.

Laporta plans to make use of the Barcelona academy to bring out stars to carry the Blaugrana into their next phase.

“La Masia is the way and the inalienable style of play,” he said. “This is a genuine and recognisable style which no other club in the world has. If we make it compatible with high-performance sporting techniques we put ourselves on another level. That way we will be unbeatable.”

The president is completely true in saying that Barcelona have the most unique academy in the world. La Masia has produced legends of the game in Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets. The current generation of Barcelona starlets, Ansu Fati, Pedri, Riqui Puig, Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza are already a part of the first team and have shown their quality on the pitch on several occasions.

However, the main problem for the club will be to develop momentum with their young players. Last night, Barcelona lost to Benfica 3-0 in the Champions League. They have now lost two consecutive games in the Champions League by a 3-0 scoreline. Something has to change for Barcelona, since their inconsistencies might be too much to handle. So, a change in management might also be on the cards to make Barcelona a force to be reckoned with again.
