The future of Ronald Koeman as the head coach of Barcelona is extremely uncertain, and several candidates have emerged as potential choices to replace the Dutchman. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Joan Laporta is considering appointing a German coach for Barcelona.
The man that Laporta wants at the Barcelona dugout is Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel. This past summer, Tuchel became the third successive German coach to lift the Champions League trophy after Jurgen Klopp with Liverpool and Hansi Flick with Bayern Munich.
The task to bring Tuchel over to Camp Nou won’t be easy since he only recently signed a new contract with the Blues that runs until 2024. As a result, Barcelona might have to agree a financial deal with the London club if they really want the former PSG and Dortmund coach to come to the club.
Laporta recognises Tuchel’s vast tactical knowledge and also appreciates his ability to bring out the best in his players. Chelsea are currently very happy with Tuchel at the club, and Barcelona are going to try to bring him over at the end of the season. In the meantime, Ralf Rangnick is being rumoured as the replacement for Koeman.
The 63-year-old is currently the director of football at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow and is an inspiration for the likes of Klopp and Tuchel. The rumoured plan right now is to have Rangnick in place until the end of the season when they go all in for Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea.
