Reliance Jio has unveiled the world’s first prepaid 5G data plan. The recently released package offers 6GB of data, after which speeds would drop to 64kbps, and it comes with the same validity as your current plan. The data pack costs Rs 61 and is compatible with the prepaid plans priced at Rs 119, Rs 149, Rs 179, Rs 199, and Rs 209.

The services will be offered at the same price as 4G pricing, and later, new plans will be announced on the teleservice provider’s official website. The plans are location-specific and will be presented in tier-wise order based on the number of users.

Jio 5G: New Plans!

Everything you need to know about Jio 5G!

According to the listing, users who have been invited to the Jio Welcome Offer and have access to cities where Jio True 5G has been launched are the only ones who can use unlimited 5G data.

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, on the other hand, offer 4GB and 3GB of data, respectively, under their plans priced at Rs 65 and Rs 58, respectively.

Additionally, the telecom network began offering 5G services in ten cities: Kanpur, Tirupati, Agra, Prayagraj, Nellore, Meerut, Ahmednagar, Kozhikode, Nagpur, and Thrissur. 85 cities now have access to 5G as a result of the recent launch. By December 2023, Jio hopes to have its 5G standalone (SA) network installed over the entire nation. Airtel, on the other hand, is putting in place a 5G non-standalone (NSA) network.

While Reliance Jio intends to deploy standalone 5G throughout India, Airtel’s 5G service is built on non-standalone 5G, which uses 4G components and provides slower data speeds and more latency when compared to Jio’s standalone 5G network.

According to a report in ET’s January 9 edition, Bharti Airtel and Jio plan to convert 100–150 million mobile phone users to 5G by March 2024 as they expand their coverage and create more consumer use cases. Ample data allowances are expected to be a major factor in the adoption of next-generation technology.
