Filmmaker Pushpendra Nath Misra on Wednesday publicized his upcoming Netflix series ‘Choona,’ head the cast of Jimmy Sheirgill, Namit Das, besides Monika Panwar.
The show Willpower marks the ‘Ghoomketu’ director’s foray into the long-form succession format.
A heist comedy-drama, ‘Choona’ follows a doubtful group of people who band together to take miserable a common enemy — a corrupt representative who has wronged them — using ‘jugaad’ as their only weapon.
The ensemble cast includes Aashim Gulati, Vikram Kochhar, Gyanendra Tripathi, Chandan Roy, Atul Srivastava, and Niharika Lyra Dutt.
Talking near the show, Misra said, “What comes to your mind when you get the word ‘Choona’? It is the typical Indian flavor of ‘china laguna (cheat someone).”
“The excitement of learning who deceived whom and how they did it is unparalleled, especially when the weak eroded against the powerful. No synonym can do justice to this sense. Since we are all about the theatre and rooting for the underdogs,” the director added.
Misra said the show is the flawless blend of the heist genre with the “lightness of a comedy.”
“Put this together with astoundingly talented actors in a long-form series format, besides you get ‘Choona,'” he added.
Choona OTT Release Date, starring Jimmy Sheirgill
The movie Choona OTT Release Date has not been announced officially. The Netflix original movie Choona is going to release on Netflix. The movie can be rented on Netflix at Rs 199 or one may take a subscription to the OTT platform named Netflix.
The official Twitter switch of Netflix India has formally introduced the upcoming project and common one of its initial posters. The poster gives off an intense look as Sheirgill and the rest of the cast associates sport a somber expression. They have also shared a small phrase hinting at the theme of the sequence, which reads, ‘The hustle is real. Don’t be fooled. While the first look of the lines has been made public, only a little has been bare about what to expect from it.
Conferring to Cinema Journal, the show’s filming had started level before the pandemic began. The picture is directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra, who will witness Sheirgill as the main protagonist of the plot. The series is set in the nation of Uttar Pradesh and will revolve everywhere state politics. Jimmy will be seen playing the role of a politician, and the series Willpower focuses on how politics and crime get connected. The director himself hails from the state capital Lucknow and is thus familiar with its culture.
Choona’s cast likewise includes known actors such as Gyanendra Tripathi, Monika Panwar, Namit Das, Atul Srivastava, and others. While all the cast and crew members have persisted silent on this project, it is expected to be released in the second half of this year. Jimmy was previously seen in Rangbaaz Phirse, released on Zee 5 last year, starring popular names such as Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ranvir Shorey, and more.
