If you thought *Train to Busan* was the peak of Korean virus survival cinema, director Yeon Sang Ho is back to prove he hasn’t even scratched the surface. And this time, he has Ji Chang Wook fighting for survival inside a quarantined building — and honestly, we’re already on the edge of our seats.

## What Is *Colony* About?

Helmed by *Train to Busan* and *Peninsula* director Yeon Sang Ho, *Colony* follows the story that unfolds as a building is blockaded due to an unknown virus, as those infected evolve into unpredictable forms, threatening the survivors.

The premise taps straight into the heart of [post-apocalyptic fiction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocalyptic_and_post-apocalyptic_fiction) — but grounded, claustrophobic, and deeply personal. This isn’t a city-scale disaster. It’s one building. One man. One impossible choice after another.

This is the detail that immediately elevates *Colony* from a standard survival thriller to something with genuine emotional weight. It’s not just about surviving — it’s about *who* you’re surviving for.

The newly released stills capture Hyun Seok stepping forward with a pole to protect others, facing infected individuals alone, and closely monitoring CCTV screens — raising anticipation over how Hyun Seok, who knows the building’s layout inside and out, will navigate the crisis.

## What the Cast & Director Are Saying

Ji Chang Wook himself teased what makes this film special: a key point to watch is how the infected change, as well as how the survivors evolve and respond — promising a very thrilling and suspenseful new film.

Director Yeon Sang Ho also praised his lead star, noting he was impressed not only by Ji Chang Wook’s strong action skills but equally by his emotional acting, calling him someone who carefully studies his character and designs detailed performances.

A director known for reinventing the survival genre praising his lead actor this highly? That’s a very good sign indeed. 🎬
