Jesse Lingard is attracting the interest of Newcastle United in the January transfer window. Although the player’s contract expires until the end of the season, the Toons are trying to sign him on a loan deal for the next six months.
Although Newcastle United have the money to spend on signing the player in the January window itself, they are trying to make a bargain deal since he has so little time left on his contract. Moreover, due to the lack of game time at Manchester United, he won’t be renewing his contract either.
Newcastle United want Jesse Lingard on loan
Manchester Evening News have reported that the Magpies are working on a deal to sign the 29-year-old. He spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at West Ham United, and was a huge revelation for the Hammers, helping them achieve a European spot for the first time.
This year, the player has only featured for 273 minutes for the Red Devils. Opportunities for him have been even more limited following the arrival of Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford.
Newcastle United aren’t direct rivals to Manchester United, and sanctioning a loan deal would actually help them clear the wage bill, even if he is to leave at the end of the season. On the other hand, the two United clubs could also agree a small transfer fee for the player within the next few days for a permanent transfer.
