As confirmed by the club, Jerome Boateng is leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season as a free agent. This summer will mark the end of a decade-long association with Bayern Munich for Boateng, who joined the club from Manchester City in 2011.
One year ago, the player was linked to Juventus with the Bianconeri willing to pay a fee to sign the player, but no move went through and the German ended up staying at the club. As of late, there have also been rumours linking Boateng with a move to Barcelona but as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, they don’t want him.Â
Eric Garcia will be coming in from Manchester City in the summer as a free signing, and the Catalonian club will hence be stacked with options for centre-backs. Gerard Pique will be expected to return from injury, and Clement Lenglet alongside Oscar Mingueza have done a good job of holding up the backline. The arrival of Garcia could only improve things for Barcelona.
We will hence, have to wait a little more to see where the 2014 World Cup winner will end up next. Rumours of a return to England, specifically, a move to Chelsea have also been in circulation but nothing concrete has been agreed on yet.
