“Rock bottom just seems to keep getting more and more rock bottom for me,” said veteran point guard Jeremy Lin, in a speech in Taiwan during August 2019. “So, free agency has been tough. Because I feel like in some ways the NBA’s mind of given up on me.”

Since that day, Lin spent his time playing professionally in China for the Beijing Ducks. Although, he has not given up on his NBA journey. Now, he is on the verge of making a comeback. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Lin will sign a deal with the Golden State Warriors’ G League team called the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The 2021 G League season will take place at Orlando, in the Disney World bubble. Opening night is expected to be in early February, with playoffs wrapping up early March.

During the 2018-19 season, Lin was a rotation player for Atlanta, coming off the bench and averaging 10.7 points per game while shooting 34.7 percent from the arc. That did not stop the Hawks from waiving him after the trade deadline. He suited up for Toronto the rest of the season with whom he became the first Asian-American player to win an NBA title. He could not latch on another NBA contact after that so he chose to play in China.

Merely 18 franchises will be sending a team to be a part of shortened G League season, and the Warriors will be one of them. During those game, Lin will have a chance to impress a team and possibly earn an NBA contract.

According to Charania, other veteran players like Michael Beasley and Lance Stephenson will also be signing G League contracts. They will enter the 2021 G League Draft, which is scheduled for January 11.
