Jamshedpur FC have confirmed the signing of Ashutosh Mehta, after his two-year suspension from the sport. The player reunites with coach Khalid Jamil, who he has worked with on several occasions in the past.
The 33-year-old’s arrival has been officially confirmed by the club on their official social media pages. He brings with him a wealth of experience, having played for Mumbai City FC and Mohun Bagan in the past, and winning the ISL Cup during his time with the Mariners.

“I am honoured to join Jamshedpur FC. I am grateful to the club for showing trust in me and I will reciprocate this faith with all my might. I am here to win with everyone and make the fans of Jharkhand proud,” Ashutosh Mehta told JFC’s official site.
The player also addressed his ban in a video released on his official Twitter account recently. He acknowledged that the substance found in his system was morphine, and reiterated that he had consumed it unknowingly.
After serving a two-year suspension, he is now back to playing football professionally, after continuing his training even when not allowed to play professionally.
