Jamshedpur FC thrashed Odisha FC in a big game near the top of the table. The Men of Steel have displaced Odisha in second place, and are only a point behind the league leaders, Mumbai City FC. Here are the three talking points from the game.
Clinical Greg Stewart Gets Hat-trick
The Scottish striker scored the first hat-trick of his ISL career in the game against Odisha. He also provided an assist for the opening goal scored by captain Peter Hartley. The forward is a man in form, and is setting up Jamshedpur to be one of the title contenders this season.
With his hat-trick, he now has four goals to his name this season, and is one away from leading the race for the top scorer award.
You Can’t Always Outscore Opponents
This isn’t the first time that Odisha have conceded four goals this season in the ISL. They did so against East Bengal earlier, but managed to knock six past the Kolkata based club to win the game.
Their attacking wasn’t good enough today, and they paid a huge price for poor defending today. The takeaway here is that they need to improve their defence to truly challenge for the title.
Jamshedpur FC Title Hopefuls?
There are still fourteen games to go till the end of the season, and Jamshedpur FC are already starting to emerge as title contenders. Their performances against big teams like Odisha, ATK Mohun Bagan and Hyderabad FC have shown that they are able to deliver in the big games.
This is a very positive takeaway from the games so far, and will set them up for a top four finish at the very least.
