Jamshedpur FC defeated second-placed ATK Mohun Bagan 1-0 in the final game of the ISL season to win the league title. Here are the three talking points from the game.
Ritwik Das has a dream moment
The Jamshedpur FC midfielder claimed his goal to be the biggest moment of his career yet. And it was his strike that ended up being the difference maker in the game. A deflected effort from Greg Stewart fell to the feet of the winger, who fired the ball past Amrinder Singh in the second half to get the lead.
All is not lost for ATK Mohun Bagan
This is the second time in a row that ATK Mohun Bagan have finished second in the table. Last year, they lost out to Mumbai City FC by the finest of margins. And this time around, it is Jamshedpur FC who have earned the title over the Mariners. There were numerous chances for ATK to capitalise on and put pressure on Jamshedpur, but they failed to take them when they came.
As a result, their focus now turns to the semifinals, with a chance to lift the ISL trophy still available.
Jamshedpur FC’s first league title
The Men of Steel have earned their first ever league title in the ISL by beating ATK Mohun Bagan. They were the winners of the final game between the two teams, and had to pull out all the stops to maintain their lead until the final whistle. Jamshedpur FC have also qualified for the AFC Champions League by finishing first in the table.
