Reports in Italy suggested that Ivan Perisic had reached an agreement with Chelsea for a transfer in the summer. But, those rumours have been put to rest by Fabrizio Romano and Alfredo Putella, both of whom deny the story.
The Croatian is out of a contract with Inter Milan at the end of the season. And he isn’t close to signing a new deal with them right now. As a result, there were talks of him agreeing a free transfer to Chelsea since they will need a replacement for Marcos Alonso, who is expected to leave the club to join Barcelona.
Ivan Perisic hasn’t agreed anything with any club yet
The 33-year-old will first talk to Inter Milan about his future. He has been offered a contract worth €4.5 million per season, but it is not close to the €6 million per season that he is expecting.
With the battle for the Scudetto still raging on between Inter and AC Milan, the player will first resolve matters on the pitch. He will then talk to other clubs about a potential move, and Chelsea could be one of them since they need cover for their wing-backs.
Ivan Perisic recently proved he can still perform at a high level, as he was the match-winner for Inter Milan as they defeated Juventus to win the Coppa Italia after 11 years. His presence in Thomas Tuchel’s system could be a very appropriate one considering that he is playing as a wing-back for Inter as well.
