Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Ivan Fresneda from La Liga club Real Valladolid. The youngster has been hyped up as a very bright prospect for the future, and could make the move to a big club soon.
According to Fabrizio Romano, his agents will be travelling to England for a new round of talks in the coming week. However, the North London club isn’t the only one in the race as Newcastle United are also keeping an eye on his situation.
Newcastle United and Arsenal keen on signing Ivan Fresneda in January
Arsenal have Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu as options in the right-back position. Which means that their new arrival will probably be a third-choice in the position unless White moves back to central defence.
Newcastle United, on the other hand, want a back-up for Kieran Trippier, who has been one of their best players this season. And a bright, young talent like Ivan Fresneda could be exactly what they need to add more spark to their team.
Spanish champions Real Madrid are also linked with the 18-year-old, but haven’t made contact as of yet.
The Gunners have signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton and are awaiting the completion of the deal for Jakub Kiwior from Spezia. However, they don’t seem to be done just yet and are keen on adding further to their ranks.
The deal for Fresneda depends on whether or not Arsenal can offload Cedric Soares to Fulham. If a deal can be struck, then the procedure to sign him could go through much faster.
