Launch events are supposed to be moments of pure celebration. This one turned into a nerve-wracking scramble backstage — and now, SS Karthikeya is finally sharing what really happened when Mahesh Babu’s “Varanasi” glimpse hit a technical snag in front of a packed audience.

### What Went Wrong At The Launch?

Speaking on a YouTube interview, Karthikeya described the atmosphere behind the scenes as chaotic, saying it felt like a war room inside the tent. He admitted he felt like crying and got emotional and angry, even though he couldn’t pinpoint exactly at whom — stressing that it was ultimately nobody’s fault, since the drone-heavy visuals simply couldn’t be tested beforehand.

### The Moment Of Relief

According to Karthikeya, the team had a technically strong setup, and the issue wasn’t a format error but simply the lack of a prior test run. He shared that when the glimpse finally played correctly on the third attempt, he yelled out loud in sheer relief — comparing his reaction to a famous emotional outburst from actor Nani in the film “Jersey.”

### What “Varanasi” Is Actually About?

Set in 2027, the story follows an asteroid threatening the city of Varanasi, pulling archaeologist Rudhra into a globe-spanning mission to recover an ancient cosmic artefact before disaster strikes. The narrative draws on Varanasi’s deep-rooted historical and spiritual significance, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a major center of pilgrimage in Indian tradition ([read more about the city on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varanasi)).

### Why This Behind-The-Scenes Moment Matters?

High-stakes launch events for big-budget films often carry immense pressure, especially when unfinished VFX-heavy sequences are shown live for the first time. Karthikeya’s candid admission offers a rare, human glimpse into just how emotionally taxing these moments can be for filmmaking teams.
