Former A-League star Roy Krishna who joined ATK for the 2019-20 season, has now extended his contract for at least one more year. He will play the 2020-21 season for ATK Mohun Bagan.
ATK and Mohun Bagan, a club with rich heritage, have merged and they will play in ISL from this season. Roy Krishna has confirmed that he will continue to play for the Kolkata based club.
The Fiji striker said on his social media channel: “I am delighted to extend my contract with ATKFC Mohun Bagan. I had no hesitation in choosing to remain with the Champion Team. Looking forward to returning to Kolkata, training, reuniting with teammates & the merger of ATK & Mohun Bagan.”
Roy Krishna and his teammate Williams were a revelation for ATK. The duo took the ISL by storm. They had 22 goals along with 11 assists. Krishna was the joint-highest scorer of the 2019-20 ISL with 15 goals. He also captained ATK in the final where they beat Chennaiyin FC to clinch their third ISL title.
The tentative date for ISL is November. Krishna hopes that everything goes well and he is able to join the team one month before for the pre-season.
He has enjoyed playing in Kolkata. The atmosphere on and off the field has touched him deeply and now he is waiting eagerly to return to Kolkata once again.
