The Indian Super League has seen outstanding attackers score a record-breaking quantity of goals since its inception in 2014. Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the Indian national team and Bengaluru FC, recently scored 48 goals, making him one of the most prolific goal scorers in ISL history. Chhetri has already scored the most goals for India in the campaign.

He matched the record set by Spaniard Ferran Corominas, who had scored the most goals in the ISL’s history. Chhetri, on the other hand, is currently joint-top scorer in the ISL’s all-time goalscorers list and will most likely surpass “Coro” in the next matches.

Having said that several other Indian strikers, including Chhetri, have scored a lot of goals for their respective sides. Even though most teams relied on foreign attackers, several Indian forwards broke through and showed their goal-scoring abilities. Here are the top five Indian goal scorers in ISL history, according to statistics.

Here’s the Top 5 highest-scoring Indians in the Indian Super League’s history:

5. Bipin Singh(Mumbai City FC): 13 goals in 68 matches

Bipin Singh

One of the active players on this list is Bipin Singh. He is currently playing for Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League. During the 2020-21 season, the winger helped the team capture the ISL League Winners’ Shield and the title. He’s scored 13 goals in 68 games so far, and he’ll almost surely add to that total.

He is one of the most exciting wingers to watch because of his pace and perseverance. Jackichand Singh has also scored 13 goals in the ISL, but he has done it throughout 96 games. Bipin’s most important goal came in the final of the 2020-21 season when he scored against ATK Mohun Bagan. His 90th-minute goal was enough to secure the title for the Islanders.

4. CK Vineeth: 13 goals in 60 matches

CK Vineeth may not be playing in the ISL right now, but he is still one of the league’s top Indian goal scorers. In 60 games, the winger has 13 goals. He presently plays for RoundGlass Punjab in the I-League. Vineeth was a member of the SC East Bengal side in the ISL last season but only appeared in two games.

Before joining SCEB, the 33-year-old played for ISL teams such as Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, Kerala Blasters, and Jamshedpur FC. While a return to the ISL is doubtful, his 13 goals remain one of the highest in the league and will remain in the top five for some time.

3. Lallianzuala Chhangte(Chennaiyin FC): 20 goals in 90 matches

Lallianzuala Chhangte, an Indian international and winger for Chennaiyin FC, is ranked second in the standings with 20 goals. He has appeared in 90 matches in the competition and is on his way to a century of appearances even though he is only 24 years old. He’s also a former player for the NorthEast United and Delhi Dynamos/Odisha FC.

In addition to his 20 goals, the speedy winger has nine assists to his credit. Chhangte is one of the most dangerous wingers in the local league when he’s on his game. His finishing, on the other hand, occasionally falls short. Despite this, Chhangte is the third-highest Indian goalscorer in ISL history, thanks to his perseverance and eye for goal.

2. Jeje Lalpekhlua: 24 goals in 76 matches

Jeje Lalpekhlua is the ISL’s second-highest goalscorer in Indian history. In 76 appearances, the striker has scored 24 goals. During the 2020-21 season, he played seven games for SC East Bengal, scoring one goal and assisting another. He is now without a club and is unable to add to his ISL goal total.

Despite this, Jeje’s 24 goals remain a huge total. Since the competition’s beginning, he has been recognized as one of the best Indian forwards. Furthermore, the forward has two ISL victories to his name with Chennaiyin FC.

1. Sunil Chhetri(Bengaluru FC): 48 goals in 107 matches

Sunil Chhetri holds the record for being the top-scoring Indian player in the history of the Indian Super League. As mentioned earlier, he shares the first position with Corominas, having scored 48 goals, which is the highest ever in the ISL. It is just a matter of time before he surpasses the Spanish player. If an Indian player becomes the leading goalscorer in the ISL, it will be a matter of great national pride.

Chhetri is regarded as a living legend. His achievements in Indian football are immeasurable, and he continues to inspire a growing number of people every day. Before Bengaluru FC, the forward played in the competition for Mumbai City. Chhetri has 10 assists in those 107 games and led BFC to the ISL title in 2018-19.
