ISL: 3 talking points from FC Goa vs Jamshedpur FC

Jamshedpur FC won their first game of the season by defeating FC Goa 3-1. Here are the three main talking points from the entertaining game.

Valskis revived

The Lithuanian striker ended his 10-goal drought with two goals in the win against Goa. The first was a delightful finish from the edge of the box, and the second was a training ground routine free kick. The forward glanced the ball past the keeper to bag a brace.

He assisted the goal for Peter Hartley in the draw against East Bengal, and he now has two goals to his name. The number 9’s performances will partially determine how good Jamshedpur’s season turns out.

Unlucky Goa

The scoreline will show that Goa were beaten by three goals to one. But the fact of the matter is that they could’ve had three goals for themselves. Their efforts hit the framework numerous times, or were denied by great saves made by Rehenesh Paramba, the Jamshedpur keeper.

The team created several chances throughout the game but were unable to capitalise on them. The only exception for this being the late goal from Airam Cabrera.

Set-piece delight

Jamshedpur FC’s performance from set-piece situations was one of the key points from this match that will play a part this season. The team was very creative from dead ball situations, and it also earned them a goal alongside numerous chances created.

The Men of Steel might just be the single best team in the ISL in terms of set pieces and making the most out of them.
