The ISL has suspended the game between Mumbai City FC and Kerala Blasters due to the latter not having enough players in their squad. The league has confirmed their decision to delay the game, but has not announced a later date for it yet.

This is the second consecutive fixture that the ISL has had to postpone after the tie between ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC had to be shifted.

ISL delay yet another fixture due to coronavirus cases

Here is what the ISL had to say about the issue in an official statement:

“Hero Indian Super League (ISL) has decided to postpone Match No. 62 between Kerala Blasters FC and Mumbai City FC scheduled to be played today, Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco. The League will look to reschedule the fixture to a later date.

The decision has been taken in consultation with the League’s medical team after it was assessed Kerala Blasters FC do not have the requisite number of players available for the match.

The League will work closely with the medical experts to monitor and ensure the safety of all the players and support staff in the squad and others involved.”

The situation is slowly starting to get complicated in the bio bubble, with FC Goa’s Edu Bedia speaking out about the issue in particular. As fixtures continue to get postponed due to coronavirus outbreaks in camps, there is an argument that the league as a whole should be postponed to deal with the situation, and the rise in cases could justify such a step.
