SC East Bengal again faced a defeat against Hyderabad FC on Tuesday by a scoreline of 3-2.

This was Hyderabad FC’s second win of the Hero ISL 2020-21 season and moved to the 5th spot but it’s again a loss for SC East Bengal, who still remains at the bottom of the table.

Despite SC East Bengal’s lead from the goal by J. Maghoma at the 26th-minute and a good start, Hyderabad FC’s Aridane Santana led his team from the front as he struck twice within a minute which guided Hyderabad FC to a 3-2 win over SC East Bengal.

Hyderabad FC’s Liston’s excellent tracking from the back and his excellent performance proved very instrumental for the team’s win.

Hyderabad FC were awarded a penalty for Sehnaj Singh’s foul on Mohammed Yasir, But Debjit Majumder guessed it right and pulled off a stunning save to keep Santana’s penalty out.

Soon SC East Bengal had a chance to double their lead but with only the keeper who stopped CK Vineeth and dragged his shot wide. But still couldn’t make it.

Hyderabad FC coach Manolo Marquez after the match said “I think we suffered too much in the last minutes. We needed to control the game better after we took a 3-1 lead. When Aaron [Holloway] came on we had a lot of problems. We put some young players in for the last few minutes and had a lot of nervous moments.”

Speaking about Liston Colaco, who was substituted in the second half and played an important role in all three goals, Marquez said, “I know that he is a very important player for us. But you know how injuries are. We have to be careful with the injuries because we have only three foreigners. Liston is very important but maybe he is at his best when the other team is tired. I think he is very powerful. If you remember, in our first game against Odisha FC, he entered in the 60th minute and was very important for the win.”

When asked about his side’s attack, he said, “I think we need to arrive with more players into the box. If I have any criticism for my side, it has to be this. We keep the ball well and the defenders are organized but we arrive with more players in the box. Sometimes only Aridane [Santana] is in the box. We improved when Liston came on. We have young players and it is not easy.”

“I don’t know where to start. The players need to concentrate more on the full 90 minutes. We tried hard but were just not good enough. We can make excuses and give reasons like we had two and a half weeks to prepare a team and a few of our players are struggling now. We train well but some players don’t do as well when we play the match. The concentration levels are not what they should be and that’s the simple thing.”

Talking about his squad rotation, he said: “It is what it is, this is the squad we have. Every game we play we mix and match and try to give everyone a chance and a start. People can throw whatever they want at me but I pick a team based on what I see in training.

“The players they are not letting me down, they are letting themselves and the fans of the club down. The performance of some players is not up to the ISL standards”, Stated Robbie Fowler, SC East Bengal’s coach.
