Isco has signed for Real Betis as a free agent, after almost six months away from football. The player has returned to Sevilla after leaving them shortly after the January transfer window. He has signed a one-year deal with Betis, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 23/24 season.
Manuel Pellegrini was the driving force behind bringing the midfielder to the club. He is familiar with the former Real Madrid man from their time together at Malaga, and the transfer has now been completed after an official announcement from the Spanish side.Â
Isco signs for Real Betis on short-term dealÂ
After the sacking of Julen Lopetegui from Sevilla, Isco was informed that he was no longer a part of the club’s plans going forward. He also had a falling out with their former sporting director, Monchi, which led to him terminating his contract and parting ways with the club.
Now, he is back in La Liga and is expected to be the creative midfielder that the team needs after Sergio Canales’ departure to Mexico. Real Betis will need to sell more players in order to register their new signings. But for the time being, that isn’t expected to be an issue.
The 31-year-old has won 19 trophies with Real Madrid, and will be able to bring his experience to Betis to help them improve on their fortunes this past season.
