Since July 25, 2023, individuals attempting to make ticket bookings on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and app have been encountering difficulties. The unavailability of the ticketing service has been attributed to ‘technical reasons’ by IRCTC, the e-ticketing arm of the Indian Railways, as stated in a tweet. However, the technical team at the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) is actively working to resolve the issue.
All About IRCTC being down
As a temporary alternative, IRCTC advised users to explore other platforms like Amazon and MakeMyTrip to book their tickets until the website and app are fully functional again. To ease the inconvenience faced by passengers, the Indian Railways took proactive measures in the national capital by opening additional counters at various railway stations.
These extra PRS ticket windows were set up alongside the existing ones to provide more booking options for travelers. The authorities also expressed their commitment to monitoring the situation and indicated the possibility of opening even more counters later if required.
For those opting to book through alternative platforms like MakeMyTrip or Amazon, the process involves selecting the train ticket section and providing departure city, destination city, travel date, and time details. The platform will then display available trains, and users can select the one that suits their preferences.
Personal information, such as name, age, and other necessary details, needs to be entered before making the payment. Once the process is complete, users will receive a confirmation email containing ticket details, and some services may also offer mobile tickets that can be displayed on smartphones.
In addition to the ticket booking updates, the article also covers a separate news snippet about a government official caught taking a bribe, highlighting the recent incidents of public officers being caught red-handed and engaging in corrupt practices.
