PBKS overcame CSK in front of their home crowd, winning by seven wickets as they comfortably chased down their target of 163. In spite of surpassing Virat Kohli for the orange cap, Ruturaj Gaikwad could not finish his evening on a high note, as the team ended up losing the game.
The Chennai Super Kings captain scored 62 from 48 deliveries to help his side achieve a respectable total. However, the rest of the team could only contribute in small amounts as Ajinkya Rahane scored 29 and S Rizvi scored 21 while MS Dhoni scored 14, and was eventually run out.

Riley Rossouw and Jonny Bairstow helped the visitors achieve a great start to their run chase, scoring 43 and 46 each. Although both missed out on a half century, their contribution was enough to set the team up for the win.
The partnership between Sam Curran and Shashank Singh helped Punjab see the game through easily, with the two set batsmen finishing the game off with two overs to spare. Curran was given out for an LBW late in the game, but the decision was overturned after a review, robbing CSK of what could have been only a small delay.
Chennai are now fourth in the table, with 10 points, having won and lost five games each. On the other hand, Punjab are eighth, only two points behind CSK.
