The defending champions Gujarat Titans has pulled up a massive victory against the Lucknow Supergiants by defeating them by 56 runs, at the Narendra Modi stadium. It was a top notch perfermonace by GT, on both batting and bowling perspective, and they have made their position safe at the top, and have nearly qualified for the playoffs.
Performance by GTr
Coming to batting, Gujarat Titans put up a massive score of 227 and only for the loss of 2 wickets. Thanks to the brilliant innings of Wriddhiman Saha and Subhman Gill that GT were able to deliver such a big score even without loosing much wickets. Primarily Wriddhiman Saha started the fight with a good strike rate and score 81 of 43 with 10 fours and 4 sixes. On the other hand Gill was not out at 94 of 51 with only 2 fours and 7 sixes.
Coming to ball, LSG started the fight well with the magnificent duo of Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayer, however the Titan bowlers ensured that the match doesn’t get out of their hands. Mohit Sharma picked up 4 wickets whereas Shami, Rashid and Noor picked up 1 each, and limited LSG for 171 for the loss of 7 wickets.
GT’s easy equation to the playoffs
Even before this game, GT were the table toppers, and this massive win over LSG has only ensured their spot at the top remains the same. To qualify for the playoffs from this no, GT needs two more points, which is winning another game and concerning their current form, it seems that it will indeed be a cupcake.
If GT needs to get eliminated from the tournament, they have to loose all their remaining matches from here, but then also their elimination won’t be certain, and the game of run rates would come. Hence, GT have almost reached the playoffs, just one win to ensure it. They will next lock horns against MI at Wankhede.
