IPL 2023 mini-auction is supposed to take place on December 16. The BCCI is thinking of mulling this date, the final decision will be taken in the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The purse also expanded to Rs 95 Crore which the BCCI set last year in IPL 2022. The trade window will be open until one week ago of the auction day.
In IPL 2022 Auction the purse had only Rs 90 Cr value but in 2013, it has increased up to 5 Crore. There are predictions that by 2024, the purse will hit Rs 100 Cr. It absolutely depends on the trade-ins, that’ll decide or shrink the purse for franchises. The BCCI wants mid-December for the auctions.
It will be a short auction as we had the big one last season. The last auction was the major one and the next three will be mini auctions as the teams want to develop the squads,” said a senior BCCI official
IPL 2023 is expected to start on March 22 or 23, though the final decision will be during the AGM.
As stated by Sourav Ganguly earlier, the IPL will be in the home and away format. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said this in his one of these letter to the state associations.
“The next season of men’s IPL will also go back to the home and away format with all 10 teams playing their home matches at their designated venues,” Ganguly said in his letter.
The window will be open till 7 days before the auction. The biggest name on the IPL transfer market is Ravindra Jadeja right now. He has been a part of the franchise since 2012 but had a fallout with CSK after the team failed to perform under him.
He was removed as a captain by the franchise in the midway and MS Dhoni was once again the skipper. CSK finished at 9th position and one of the strongest teams had the worst season ever.
