Lucknow, which is owned by the RPSG group, took the first step and named their squad Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. The suffix was also used by RPSG’s former Pune franchise during their two-year tenure, and it will be carried over to Lucknow with Kl Rahul as captain.

The RPSG Group previously controlled the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) for two seasons in 2016 and 2017, during which the inaugural edition’s finalists Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were given a two-year suspension for their alleged involvement in the infamous spot-fixing scam.

About Lucknow Coach

Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian cricketer, has been named the mentor of the team. Andy Flower, a former Zimbabwean cricket coach, has been named head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants for the IPL 2022 season. He will visit Uttar Pradesh in the new year.
