With the addition of two additional franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, the IPL 2022 will be a ten-team game. The showpiece tournament’s 15th edition would be exclusively played behind closed doors in India for two months, from the final week of March to the end of May, according to reports.

Bengaluru will host the big auction on February 12 and 13. Lucknow, on the other hand, has officially announced the name of the squad barely weeks before the much-anticipated event. The team owner, as well as the Chairman of RPSG Group, took to Twitter to announce the new name of the franchise: “Lucknow Super Giants.”

Lucknow, which is owned by the RPSG group, took the first step and named their squad Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. The suffix was also used by RPSG’s former Pune franchise during their two-year tenure, and it will be carried over to Lucknow with Kl Rahul as captain.

The RPSG Group previously controlled the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) for two seasons in 2016 and 2017, during which the inaugural edition’s finalists Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were given a two-year suspension for their alleged involvement in the infamous spot-fixing scam.
