Rajasthan Royals is a franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) based in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The team plays its home matches in Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The Rajasthan Royals have a lot of potential talent as well as a number of controversies and scandals.
History
The Rajasthan Royals is an authentic team of the IPL since the inaugural season in 2008. The franchise won the very first season. RR was bought by Emerging Media with a bid of $67 million making it the most expensive team of the IPL. They have a lot of controversies regarding the ownership of the franchise which led to the expulsion of the team in 2010. The team has a pre-tax profit of $7.5 million in the year 2009. In 2015, the team was banned for two years due to the Lodha Committee inquiry. Later, the team was a part of huge controversy since there were false bids that violated BCCI norms. In 2008, all-rounder, Shane Watson won the man of the tournament award for scoring 472 runs and picking 17 wickets.
