IPL 2022 is going to be hosted in Mumbai. The BCCI selectors met on Thursday and a consensus was reached that the hosting of IPL is going to be held on Mumbai and it is going to be the “Best Solution Forward”. The official confirmation will be done on February 20th.
As per reports by Telegraph, the board had confirmed Mumbai as the IPL Venue and the matches will be hosted in 3 stadiums around Mumbai.
A source told Telegraph, “We aren’t looking beyond Mumbai so far. The third wave of the pandemic is on the wane and there’s no need to host the tournament overseas,”
Mumbai to host IPL
BCCI released an official statement that IPL 2022 is going to get started from 27th March. BCCI secretary Jay Shah had informed the media last week that the board and franchises are going to host IPL in India itself.
Stadiums to host IPL 2022
- Mumbai’s three stadiums are all set to host IPL Matches.
- Wankhede, Brabourne and DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai have already been selected.
- Pune can also be considered as a venue if required.
- The venues don’t require AIR-TRAVEL.
- The BIO-BUBBLE is easy to maintain around these stadiums as top 5 star hotels.
When is BCCI going to approve the decision?
BCCI is going to wait until the IPL Auction gets over. The IPL Governing Council is all set to meet the 10 teams in IPL Auction. After that BCCI will announce the venue of IPL 2022.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) submitted their official proposal to host IPL if the Indian venues get changed at the last moment.
BCCI office-bearers are happy because the condition of Covid-19 in Mumbai has improved a lot and the overseas location won’t be taken into consideration right now.
