Delhi Capitals is all set to face Mumbai Indians in their opening clash of IPL 2022. DC vs MI match will be held on March 27 (Sunday) at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians rebuilt its entire squad after the IPL Mega Auction. MI will not be getting the services of Suryakumar Yadav, since he’s at rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) due to a hairline thumb fracture that he has suffered last month. All-rounder Hardik Pandya is also not in the team so MI has to find a player to fill his gap.
Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals are in a bothered state of mind regarding their overseas players. South African pacer Anrich Nortje is dealing with hip and back issues which means he won’t be playing the first game. Mustafizur Rahman and Lungi Ngidi recently played their ODI series and they may miss the opening match. Opener David Warner can start playing only from April 5 due to Cricket Australia’s (CA) central rules.
MI vs DC TATA IPL: Match prediction
Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title five times and will be eyeing their sixth title by starting off with a clash against the Delhi Capitals. MI lost the Pandya brothers and Trent Boult still they have a balanced squad. Tilak Verma will substitute Suryakumar’s place in the batting department. The Capitals do have a strong squad too but their star players Mitch Marsh and David Warner can’t play the first game due to their national duties. This is a major advantage for Mumbai Indians. Delhi will definitely try hard to win the first game but since MI has a strong squad with a skipper who has tasted victory five times in the finale the chances of Mumbai winning the match is much more than the opposition.
MI vs DC: Fantasy XI for their first match
Rohit Sharma is a world-class player and one of the high scorers in IPL. Under his captaincy, MI won five titles and has always backed his team. Hopefully, in 2022 too, the team will be performing well under his leadership.
Ishan Kishan was bought by MI for 15.25 crores which was the most expensive buy of the season. He will be opening the innings in the first game, he had performed very well in the last IPL scoring the fastest 50 and has made a total of 1452 runs in 61 matches of the league.
Prithvi Shaw is the youngest player to score a Test century and has shown his potential to the world. In 2019, Shaw scored 99 and 353 runs though he couldn’t play a lot of matches in 2019 and 2020 due to his injury. In 53 IPL matches, he has mustered 1305 runs.
Rishabh Pant in 84 IPL matches managed to score 2948 runs. He scored 684 runs at a strike rate of 173.60 to finish as the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2018, his best season to date.
Tim David has made a name for himself as a fine and hard-hitting finisher around. He is also a handy off-spinner who can fill in a few overs. He can serve MI for years.
Kieron Pollard has played 171 IPL matches and has scored a total of 3157 runs at an average of 30.54 and a strike rate of 149.57. He has scored 16 half-centuries with the best score of 83 runs picking 63 wickets at an average of 32.03 and a strike rate of 8.85.
Axar Patel has very good stats from IPL he played 109 matches mustering 953 runs and picking up 95 wickets. Hopefully, he will sever MI very well this season too.
Jasprit Bumrah played for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021. He is the most sought-after fast bowler. MI has faith in him, which he has been repaid ten folds. Bumrah has been vital in the success of the five-time champions.
Chetan Sakariya puts in all his efforts in bowling, fielding, and batting. In 14 matches, Chetan scalped 14 wickets at an average of 30.42.09.
Daniel Sams is playing from Mumbai Indians, having very little experience in IPL. He played five matches where he took one wicket. He has the potential to shine if given the right opportunity.
Shardul Thakur’s performances with bat and ball for India in Test matches has been spectacular in recent times. Delhi Capitals saw enough value to purchase him for INR 10.75 crore and hopefully, he will be doing justice to his price.
