The fourteenth edition of IPL is on its way. The league is not only popular for its impressive paychecks but is a melting pot of different cultures as well. Every year Indians remain captivated since the league is all about uncertainty. The team that had an amazing performance last year may not be able to retain it.

On the other hand, an underrated team may astonish everyone with its performance. As much as the cricket lovers wait for this league to start, they are equally exhilarated for the mega IPL auction. Here are all the details you were looking for the mega auction.

Where will the Mega Auction take place?

It will take place in India.

When and at what time will the Mega auction take place?

It will start around the first week of January starting at 15:30 IST.

Where will the Mega Action get telecasted?

IPL Mega Auction 2022 will be shown live on Star Sports Network and cricket fans can also live to stream it on the Disney+Hotstar app.

BCCI about the IPL Mega Auction

The BCCI hasn’t yet formalised the retention policy and is yet to state the salary of retained players and decide the final price for players in IPL 2022 Auctions.

MS Dhoni is against the retention policy

Dhoni disagreed with the retention policy as it may compel the franchisee to spend a lot of money. He stated that CSK shouldn’t make an exception even for him. This was revealed by the owner Srinivasan. CSK is expected to retain 3-4 players for the next season.

2 new teams to be included in IPL 2022?

BCCI has verified the inclusion of two new teams in the persisting pool of 8 teams. As per speculations, one will be Ahmedabad while the other one will be either Lucknow or Kanpur.

Corporate giants like Kolkata-based RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Hyderabad-based Aurobindo Pharma Ltd; the Adani group headquartered in Ahmedabad; and the Torrent Group may own an IPL franchise in 2022.

IPL 2022 Auction: What’s the first choice retention price?

It’s confirmed that no changes will be made to the salaries of retentions. The retained players will have a paycheck of INR 15 Crores, INR 11 Crores and INR 7 Crores. If two players are retained then the amount will be INR 12.5 Crores and INR 8.5 Crores for only a single player it will be INR 12.5 Crores.

Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are the first choice retention for their respective franchise. They are also one of the highest-paid players in the Indian Premier League.
