IPL 2021: SRH vs MI, RR vs CSK and SRH vs CSK matches set to be postponed after COVID-19 scare

IPL 2021 is at a warning state as the games are getting postponed on a regular basis, and many players and staffs have tested positive for COVID-19. There have been appeals as well to cancel the IPL 2021 tournament.

SRH vs MI: Tuesday, 4th May

Sunrisers Hyderabad were scheduled to play against Mumbai Indians tonight, but the IPL 2021 match is likely to be postponed just like the previous match between KKR and RCB.

According to sources, SRH player Wriddhiman Saha has tested COVID-19 positive. Therefore, the entire SRH squad has been put in isolation. So the match on Tuesday at Arun Jaitely Stadium will be postponed in all probability.

RR vs CSK: Wednesday, 5th May & SRH vs CSK: Friday, 7th May

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan, along with bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and a bus cleaner, have been deemed COVID-19 positive. The rest of the squad, including all the players, who are currently in Delhi, have been in isolation despite testing negative,

After the three positive cases, CSK decided not to go ahead with their match against Rajasthan Royals on 5th May.

A CSK official told The Indian Express: “The coach is asymptomatic. However, as per the BCCI’s Covid protocols, everybody who has come in contact with him will have to undergo a six-day quarantine. We can’t play our next game (against Rajasthan Royals). The BCCI knows about the testing protocols and how many tests need to become negative before an all-clear is given. We have communicated it to the BCCI. They will have to reschedule the game between CSK and Rajasthan Royals.”

Not only the RR vs CSK match will be postponed, but also their next match against SRh on 7th May will have to be postponed if CSK decides to follow a 6-day quarantine.

With the rapid increase in the IPL bi-bubble, there are fears surrounding the continuation of the tournament. The second wave of COVID-19 has ravaged the whole country, and now it has made its impact on the IP as well, which was more likely to happen than not.

The BCCI will have to make a decision soon on whether it is viable to continue with the IPL 2021 tournament amid the COVID-19 scare.
