IPL 2021 action is going to commence on the 9th of April and will continue till 30th May. The finals of the IPL 2021 have been advanced and will now be played on 30th May so that Team India can have enough time to prepare for the ICC World Test Championship Final against New Zealand at Lords. The final of the ICC WTC will be commencing on 18th June.

England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also wanted that England players end their IPL responsibilities within May so that they can participate in 2 test series against New Zealand. The series will be starting on 2nd June. So, IPL GC decided to advance the final match a week earlier.

However, the 14th edition of IPL will be held across 6 venues in India in bio-secure environments. The venues are – Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. It will be a 52-day tournament with 60 matches overall.

IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel told, “Date for IPL governing council meeting has not been finalized yet. It could be in person or maybe through video. It’s yet to be finalized. We will let you know. But it will be held very shortly. All the concerns about the venues and the itinerary will be addressed during the agenda of the meeting.”

“There is no point in speculating about the venues. All decisions are taken only during the meeting. All I can say is nothing on venues has been decided as yet and it will only be finalized after consultation with and listening to the concerns of the franchisees. We are adopting a wait and watch policy as of now.”- he added.
