This season with Mumbai Indians winning their fifth title, we have witnessed many proliferative performances from many players and have seen many rising youngsters like Kartik Tyagi, Ravi Bishnoi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Devdutt Padikkal, and many more, make the most out of their opportunities. But on the other hand, we have seen many capped players disappointing and failing to perform.
The IPL 2021 mini-auction is likely to take place in the mid-February after the conduct of The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy so that the IPL franchises can look up to the budding talents from the domestic cricket and also, there is a big possibility of many capped players being unsold in this 14th edition of the IPL due to their disappointing IPL 2020 season.
1.Murali Vijay
With a backed kickstart to the IPL 2020, Murali Vijay was again flop and was dropped and benched after he failed to deliver in the first three matches. With Rituraj Gaikwad’s impressive batting performance, he has cemented his position at CSK for the upcoming season. CSK has given green signals to Gaikwad after his imminent batting. CSK isn’t willing to retain Murali Vijay for the IPL 2021. Once a star performer in IPL, Vijay isn’t expected to draw a bid as well.
2. Harbhajan Singh
The veteran off-spinner has missed IPL 2020 due to some personal reasons and his contract with CSK has also got expired this season, moreover, he has not been active with the Indian Team and in the domestic cricket too. So he has no option left to showcase his skills and talent. Even CSK is completely silent about retaining him in the team.
3. Umesh Yadav
The Vidarbha pacer, Umesh Yadav who has been regular in the Indian squad for the Test matches and is amazing with the red-ball with no doubt, has failed to perform his IPL 2020 and has displayed a very poor performance with playing only two matches in which he conceded a total of 70 runs from the six overs that he bowled and also went wicketless in his powerplay.
4. Jaydev Unadkat
Backed by Rajasthan Royals for three consecutive seasons, Jaydev Unadkat once again showed poor performance with only four wickets in seven matches, giving runs at 9.91. Unlike his domestic performance where he is best at his work, other teams may hesitate to spend a decent sum of money keeping in mind his previous performances. Going into the next season, he is likely to be released.
5. Piyush Chawla
Once an IPL star Piyush Chawla, for whom Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab had a bidding war, has shown poor performance according to his standards and failed to deliver match changing spells with only 6 wickets from the 7 matches that he played at an average of 31.83 and a dismal economy of 9.09.
