As fans are eagerly waiting for the announcement of IPL 2021 schedule, Board of Control for Cricket in India, after the AGM on 24th of December, has already announced about the auction, which won’t be a grand one rather will be a mini-auction ahead of the tournament which is expected to take place by mid-February.

The mini-auction for the 14th edition of IPL will be broadcasted by Star Sports Network and also Hotstar will be live streaming it, adding to that Reliance Jio also will be streaming it on Jio TV where the Jio users can watch it for free.

BCCI will conduct the mini-auction for the 14 edition and a grand auction will be conducted for IPL 2022 as the two new teams will be on board next year. They will need some decent time to build a strong team, which was lacking for the 14th edition of IPL.

‘Full auction will not be possible this time because of time constraints and other issues. Rather we will conduct mini-auctions where franchises can bid for a few new players. The dates of the auctions and other things are still to be decided’, a BCCI official stated.

Also, another major decision of conducting the mini-auction in mid-February is that the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament is starting from 10th January and will end on 31st January which will help the franchises to recruit new talents from the domestic cricket.

This mini-auction for few teams are going to prove great but also, on the other hand, some teams who want to rebuild their team won’t be able to do that. It is also likely that some big names may be released from their current teams.

During the BCCI AGM on 24th of December, apart from the decisions on domestic cricket and conduct of upcoming T20 World Cup in India, it was also announced that the two news teams will be on board from the 15th edition, IPL 2022 so that they can get enough time to build a strong team, albeit BCCI did not reveal the names of the two teams.
