IPL 2021: AB De Villiers becomes the first foreign cricketer to earn 100 crores in IPL

Ahead of the IPL 2021, the teams were asked to submit the list of their retained and released players, thus on Thursday, the teams released the list.

South African legendary batsman who is also known as Mr. 360 degree, AB de Villiers has created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the Bengaluru based franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has retained their explosive batsman for the upcoming IPL 2021. With this, de Villiers has become the first foreign cricketer to earn more than 100 crores in the IPL.

Also, as per the reports, Chennai Super Kings’ captain cool M.S’ Dhoni, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma and Chennai Super Kings’ Suresh Raina have already entered the list of players earning more than 100 crores. And, now RCB with paying Rs 11 crore to AB de Villiers for one season in the IPL has got him earning Rs 102.5 crore so far.

De Villiers, who also comes up at number four in the list of batsmen to score most runs in the history of IPL with a record of 4849 runs in 169 matches at an average of 40, adding to it his three centuries and 38 half-centuries, and has hit the maximum number of sixes in IPL after Chris Gayle.

In the previous edition, IPL 2020, he had scored 454 runs with an impressive average of 45.40. However, during that time his strike rate was 158.74. RCB Skipper, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers, who have scored the most runs in IPL, but unfortunately have so far failed to win the title for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
