MI has been extremely dominating in all their wins, however, every leap year (2012, 2016) has produced a new champion, so you never know maybe the stars are aligned for Capitals to cause an upset as well!

Mumbai Indians

The defending champions have looked flawless in their dominating reign this year. However, during the playoffs, every game is a fresh game! And that showed up in the qualifier one game against the Capitals where they lost Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard for ducks. However, the team is so equally balanced that every player knows his role and executes it almost to perfection.

Their bowling, on the other hand, looked even more dangerous. Trent Boult sent back Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane in the first over itself. Bumrah picked up 4 wickets. The dangerous duo of Boult and Bumrah made the record of bowlers bowling a double-wicket maiden each from the same team.

Delhi Capitals

Capitals, on the other hand, seemed as if they lost some steam before their qualifier 2 match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, the management played a masterstroke by opening the inning with Marcus Stoinis who has a great record as an opener. The move was risky but boy he delivered! This will be an X-factor for DC going against MI in the finals. Also, Kagiso Rabada found his lost form as he picked up 4 wickets to take his side through.

Fantasy XI team

SHIKHAR DHAWAN (10) (C) – Shikhar Dhawan found some form in their last game, however, will have to show consistency. He can perform consistently when in form, therefore, he’ll be my captain.

JASPRIT BUMRAH (9.5) (VC) – Bumrah has been superb as the tournament progresses. He’s the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. He’ll be our vice-captain.

QUINTON DE KOCK (9.5) – De Kock has been getting good starts, he’s at a cusp of a bigger inning anytime soon. He’ll be our captain.

SURYAKUMAR YADAV (9) – Yadav scored a phenomenal 79 against the RCB. He’ll do even better with added responsibility in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

ISHAN KISHAN (9) – Kishan has been phenomenal with the bat this season. He’s coming off scoring a great fifty that too under pressure.

KIERON POLLARD (8.5) – Pollard has looked dangerous lately. He also bowls 1-2 overs and gets a handy wicket or two. He has a tendency to perform on big occasions like the final!

MARCUS STOINIS (9) – Stoinis is a match-winner with both bat and ball. He’ll be a key asset after allowed to open. He can make important contributions in all three aspects.

KRUNAL PANDYA (8) – Krunal Pandya has shown some decent form with the ball. He can score handy and important runs down the order as well.

SHIMRON HETMYER (8) – Hetmyer was promoted in the last match and gave DC a great finish with brutal power-hitting.

TRENT BOULT (9) – Boult has been among the top wicket-takers of the tournament.

KAGISO RABADA (9.5) – Rabada has been the highest wicket-taker of the season so far. He’ll be our captain.

PREDICTION

Mumbai Indians have been really consistent in their approach. They’re still batting and bowling phenomenally. They proved in their last game that they can perform irrespective of the situation whether it’s a league match or a playoff match and even if they lose their star batsmen early. Therefore, MI will probably make it two in a row to take their fifth trophy home.
