IPL 2020: All you need to know about the mid-season transfer in IPL

IPL 2020 is already into its fourth week and this season has seen record-breaking viewing numbers for Star Sports, the official broadcaster of IPL in the Indian subcontinent.

With 27 matches played so far, all the teams except KKR and RCB have played 7 matches each. KKR will take on RCB on Monday which will make it a perfect 7 matches for each team.

So, it now time for the MID-SEASON transfer for IPL 2020. If any team feels that they need to strengthen any particular department of their team, they can purchase players, who have not played more than 2 matches for his current team in this IPL.

What is the mid-season transfer in IPL 2020?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allows franchises to internally trade players from one team to another. Last season, the BCCI had allowed such transfers of un-capped players but no franchise utilised it. This season, the board extended the offer to capped players too. But with certain conditions.

What are the rules of mid-season transfer?

The player should not have played more than two matches when the transfer is taking place.

What is the timing of mid-season transfer?

The transfer will only be applicable at the half-way mark in the league stage when the franchises have played 7 games each.

Which players are eligible for mid-season transfer as of now?

As the criteria go, all those players who haven’t played more than two games are eligible for transfers. Some of the top names who could be transferred at the half-way mark are as follows:
