Tom’s Guide spent two weeks with the iPhone Duo after swapping out the iPhone 17 Pro Max, putting the new foldable’s everyday appeal to the test. The iPhone Duo is reportedly Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Its announcement, launch date and starting

## What Two Weeks Away From the iPhone 17 Pro Max Revealed

The key question wasn’t whether the larger screen could impress in a demo, but whether the Duo could replace a familiar flagship phone. In its account, [Tom’s Guide](https://www.tomsguide.com/phones/iphones/i-swapped-my-iphone-17--for-the-iphone-duo-for-2-weeks-the-good-the-bad-and-the-baffling) describes a foldable that shines in certain moments but still feels unfinished as an everyday device.

That tension matters if you’re weighing a foldable against a conventional phone. The Duo’s **$1,199** price and flexible form opened up new ways to use it, but the author questioned whether the experience justified an upgrade—a more useful test than whether folding [hardware](https://www.tomshardware.com) looks impressive. Our earlier [iPhone Duo comparison](https://technosports.co.in/apple-iphone-duo-vs-iphone-air/) looks at the device against another Apple model; this account instead asks how the foldable fits real routines, not how it fares in a spec-sheet contest.

## The iPhone Duo’s Best Moments: Screen and Stand

The most convincing use came on a flight, when the author watched Netflix on the unfolded display. The reportedly 6.5-inch screen can make long-form video more comfortable to watch, and the report calls that a genuine advantage over carrying a standard phone.

The foldable does more than open and close. Its hinge reportedly held different angles, and the software adjusted as the device bent. During a business trip, the author used StandBy in tent mode as an alarm clock, while tabletop mode offered another practical option, including for video calls. Together, these examples show the [Duo](https://technosports.co.in/apple-foldable-supply-iphone-duo/) working as a phone, a small viewing surface and a hands-free display—but a few useful situations don’t automatically make it the better daily phone.

## What Still Feels Baffling

The account’s main reservation is that some parts of the experience still feel **unfinished**. The excerpt available here doesn’t identify a specific defect, so we can’t responsibly turn that broad concern into claims about durability, app compatibility or battery life.

The design’s versatility also raises a question of value. If you mainly want a conventional phone for messaging, photos and everyday tasks, the foldable’s extra modes may not justify a switch.
