Since years ago, the standard iPhone has not included the smoother, 120Hz refresh rate displays found in the Pro models. The resulting less smooth scrolling and animation experience is in contrast to its more expensive counterparts. That all might be changed with the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus, though.

The article implies that Apple may be bringing its ProMotion display technology for standard iPhones to the much-desired 120Hz refresh rate at last. This update will be appreciated by users who prefer a more fluid and responsive display.

Still, there are plenty of good things to note. According to the insider, the “always-on display” feature—which is presently only available on Pro models—might be added to the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus. You won’t have to wake your phone up all the time thanks to this function, which lets you read important information like the time, date, and alerts even when it’s locked.

This puts the feature set of the more expensive Pro devices closer to the typical iPhone user, making it a major upgrade. The iPhone 17 and 17 Plus appear poised to bring forth a major advancement in display technology, even though the iPhone 16 is still anticipated to maintain the 60Hz display.

[Apple](https://www.apple.com/in/?cid-oas-in-domains-apple.in/) is expected to incorporate organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) and thin-film transistors (TFT) with low-temperature crystalline oxide (LTPO) in all four of the upcoming iPhone 4 series that will be released in 2019.” (The Elec).

Smartphone displays are able to reach a 120Hz refresh rate thanks to LTPO technology. Besides, it uses less energy, so the battery won’t run out when the display is on. Apple hopes to receive these new panels from China’s BOE, according to the outlet.
