Rumored iPhone 16 Pro Models: Bigger Displays and Improved Cameras

The iPhone 15 series launch event is anticipated to take place in September, where Apple is rumored to introduce the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max. However, even though the iPhone 15 launch is still a few months away, leaks about the 2024 iPhone models have already started surfacing.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who shared the latest leak, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have some noteworthy display features. It is speculated that Apple will increase the size of the Pro models next year, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max expected to sport the largest display ever seen on an iPhone. Additionally, there are reports of a new camera sensor being introduced in the Pro models in 2024.

The leaks suggest that the non-Pro models of the iPhone 16 series will likely retain 6.1 and 6.7-inch panels, while the Pro models are expected to come with 6.3 and 6.9-inch displays. The slight increase in display size aims to make Apple’s high-end smartphones more competitive with Samsung’s equivalent devices. Moreover, the larger displays could allow for improved hardware components, such as enhanced camera technology and larger batteries.

The leaked information aligns with a previous report by Ross Young from DSCC, who also mentioned the 6.3 and 6.7-inch displays for the 16 Pro models. Additionally, CAD renders of the iPhone 16 Pro Max indicated a height of 165.0mm and a width of 77.2mm. In comparison, the 15 Pro Max, expected to feature a 6.7-inch display, will measure 159.8mm in height and 76.7mm in width.

Another leak revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro Max or 16 Ultra might incorporate a new primary camera sensor, the Sony IMX903 1/1.14-inch sensor, as mentioned by tipster Digital Chat Station. This information was supported by tipster ShrimpApplePro as well.

There have also been rumors of the 16 Pro models introducing a periscope camera sensor exclusively for the 15 Pro Max later this year. This new periscope lens is expected to offer up to 6x optical zoom in the top-end iPhone, while the 15 Pro will likely continue to provide up to 3x optical zoom.
