The iPhone 15’s camera specifications have been significantly improved, with even the entry-level devices apparently sporting a primary 48MP sensor. Apple, on the other hand, is reported to be adding a wider aperture to its four models, with a tipster suggesting that the corporation will use hybrid lens technology in its forthcoming flagship line.

In terms of aperture specifications, MacRumors discovered one of RGcloudS’ tweets, in which the individual claims that the iPhone 15’s main camera would have an F/1.7 aperture, which is somewhat wider than the F/1.79 aperture seen on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

It should be noted, however, that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have an even larger aperture of F/1.5, suggesting that the non-Pro models releasing later this year may provide something significant.

Following that, the source claims that Apple will adopt hybrid lens technology for the iPhone 15 series. A hybrid lens is made of both plastic and glass, and a 7P arrangement is rumoured to be featured on the next lineup. In detail, this means that the lens will contain a single glass element and six plastic elements.

The tipster does not explain why Apple is converting to hybrid lens technology, but the same lens will be utilised in the iPhone 16 family, according to the tweet.

This technology may be used to reduce production costs, but on this occasion, a wider aperture will be viewed as the more important upgrade in this rumour simply because a wider aperture allows more light to pass through, allowing higher-quality images to be taken, particularly in low-light environments.

Although the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are likely to feature the same 48MP sensor as its direct predecessors, the tweet says that the larger aperture will allow the camera to catch more light.
