According to a new DigiTimes story, Apple’s next iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would cost at least $100 more than the iPhone 14 Pro series. The iPhone 14 Pro costs $999, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $1,099. According to DigiTimes, the iPhone 15 Pro will cost between $1,099 and $1,199, and the 15 Pro Max will cost between $1,199 and $1,299.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple was considering raising the prices of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
According to industry expert Jeff Pu, a price rise for certain models is also on the way. According to Pu, the iPhone 15 Pro could start at $1,099, up from the $999 starting price of the iPhone 14 Pro.
Pu does not elaborate on why he feels the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be more expensive. The higher price, however, will most likely be attributed to a larger battery and display, as well as a periscope camera lens. While both 15 Pro models will have telephoto lens technology, the Pro Max model will very certainly be the only one with a periscope lens that allows for 5x to 6x optical zoom.
The price hike may result in lower sales of the new iPhone Pro models this year, with some analysts predicting sales of approximately 77 million units in 2023. Shipments were initially estimated to be around 83 million units. Apple will also have to contend with a broader drop in the smartphone sector of more than 5% year on year.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are scheduled to be unveiled at an Apple event on September 12th. Pre-orders for the iPhone 15 are expected to begin on Friday, September 15, with units hitting retailers on Friday, September 22.
