Apple is expected to begin the production of the iPhone 13 at the Foxconn plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, India from this April, as per sources that reached out to Business Standard. The manufactured units will be sold domestically as well as exported globally.
The production of the iPhone 13 was scheduled to start in January but due to Apple’s suspension of production following the protests in December 2021 with respect to stale food, which then caused a bad case of food poisoning, and unhygienic living conditions.
After the protests ended, Apple had put the Foxconn production plant on probation, demanding strict and rapid action. The US-based tech giant claimed it would continue monitoring the conditions at workers’ dorms and their dining halls along with independent auditors.
The Foxconn plant employs nearly 17,000 people and it operates in three shifts. The iPhone 13 was released on the 24th of September, 2021 and it is one of the four models. It is the second most affordable device in the entire lineup after the iPhone 13 mini.
The device is powered by the A15 Bionic chipset and it has a 60Hz refresh rate with an 1170 x 2532 OLED panel, and it comes with 4GB RAM. In the optics department, it has a 12MP+12MP rear setup and a 12MP selfie shooter on the front. The device packs a 3,240mAh battery with 15W charging.
