iOS 18 is set to bring about changes, to the iPhone, with a range of features on the horizon. Reports suggest that Apple plans to integrate AI functions into the platform when it launches this year. There are indications that iOS 18 might also undergo a makeover, making it a more substantial upgrade with advanced AI capabilities.
More About iOS 18 Enhanced Features
While iOS 18 will introduce AI features the upcoming iPhone 16 models could see improvements due to the enhanced Neural Engine in the new A18 chip. According to insights shared in Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter iOS 18 is expected to undergo design updates possibly coming out as early as this year.
Apart from new iOS, Gurman hints at Apple’s intentions to redesign macOS in the future though this change may not happen within this year. It could be another one or two years before Apple unveils the revamped macOS design. Notably, Apple made updates to its watchOS for the Apple Watch year by enhancing app usage on smaller screens and updating app interfaces for models, with larger displays.
It appears that Apple is getting ready to update all its software across its devices. Rumors have suggested changes in the design of iOS 18 taking cues from visionOS. There’s talk of incorporating features into the operating system to what we’ve seen in Vision Pro.
Beyond design revisions, Apple is also poised to embed a wide array of AI enhancements throughout the platform. The company is actively developing various tools leveraging large language models, including those focused on editing, manipulating, and animating still images. These tools hold the potential to translate into new features for the Photos app on iOS.
With the iPhone 16’s A18 chip, iOS 18 stands to leverage on-device AI capabilities to a greater extent. Expectations are high for the unveiling of iOS 18, possibly offering a first glimpse at Apple’s WWDC event in June.
