Apple will announce iOS 18 this June 10 at WWDC with an expected public release in September. Now, keep in mind that iOS 18 will bring massive changes to Apple’s iPhone operating system, lovingly called “Apple Intelligence,” filled with artificial intelligence improvements. However, some of these features may not be supported on older iPhone models.
Moreover, iPadOS 18 this year will be delivering limited device support for some iPad models, as noted by the same X tipster: This release will not run on iPads powered by the A10X Fusion chip, which includes the 10.5-inch iPad Pro and second-gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The regular A10 Fusion chip in the regular sixth-generation iPad will no longer be supported, either. Additionally, iPadOS 18 will be supported on the seventh-gen iPad.

iPadOS 18 is likely to be announced at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June, and released as iOS 18 in September. The update will add new features applicable to AI, while on-device AI features are restricted to only iPads carrying an M1 chip or newer.
Additionally, iPadOS 18 will introduce a built-in Calculator app, which will be a universal app compatible with iPhone, iPad, and macOS devices, offering a consistent user experience across all platforms. The WWDC 2024 keynote event, is scheduled for Monday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, will kick off the announcements for the new software.
