### What’s New in iOS 18.5?

While **iOS 18.5** is not a major feature-packed release, it brings a few notable changes and refinements aimed at improving usability and celebrating inclusivity:

#### **Mail App Update**

You can now **toggle contact photos directly** within the Mail app interface — a more intuitive option than digging through Settings as required in previous versions.

#### **Settings App Enhancement**

AppleCare+ information is now **more prominently displayed** in the Settings app, making it easier for users to check their coverage status and support options.

#### **Pride Wallpapers**

To coincide with the **2025 Pride Collection**, iOS 18.5 introduces **vibrant new wallpapers** for iPhone and iPad. These include rainbow-colored designs that animate when you lock, unlock, or move your device.

Additionally, beta testers have spotted hints of **two more artistic wallpapers**, featuring abstract descriptions like:

- *“Overlapping graphite contoured pockets shielding emanations of light.”*
- *“Crystalline bubbles enfolding refractions of light.”*

These could debut in the final public release, depending on Apple’s decision.

### Other Fixes and Improvements

Beyond UI changes, **iOS 18.5** appears to fix some previously reported bugs:

- **CarPlay issue resolved** from earlier betas.
- **Apple Music “microstutters”** have reportedly been smoothed out.
- A new **Back Tap banner** has been spotted by some users when accessibility actions are active.

Based on historical trends and current beta activity, **iOS 18.5 is expected to be released to the public on May 12 or 13**. That timeline aligns with:

- The arrival of the **Release Candidate (RC)**, expected as early as **May 5–6**.
- Apple’s typical update cadence, where major `.5` updates drop in mid-May.
- The simultaneous release of **developer and public betas**, a sign that the testing phase is nearing its end.

There’s also speculation about a smaller **iOS 18.4.2** patch being possible, but all signs point to **iOS 18.5** as the next major public release.

## What’s After iOS 18.5?

While iOS 18.5 is likely one of the last updates in the iOS 18 cycle, Apple could still roll out **iOS 18.6 or iOS 18.7** over the summer. However, most of the attention will shift to **iOS 19**, expected to be unveiled at **[WWDC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldwide_Developers_Conference) 2025 on June 9**.

Though **iOS 18.5** doesn’t bring major overhauls or headline-grabbing features, it adds polish, improves accessibility, and celebrates inclusivity with beautiful new Pride-themed designs. If you’re running iOS 18.4, this will be a worthwhile update to keep your iPhone secure, current, and colorful.
