Tyler Morgan, a former Apple employee, is cautioning users of older iPhones, including the iPhone 13, to exercise prudence when contemplating an update to the latest iOS 17. He contends that this update can introduce complications for those with older iPhone models.

Whole Scenario of iOS 17 and iPhone 13 and Older Models

In a video, Morgan candidly shared his personal encounter with iOS 17. He described instances of app crashes and noticeable lags in well-known applications like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Netflix. Additionally, he noted disruptions in Wi-Fi connectivity. Morgan maintains that this is a deliberate strategy by Apple, focusing on optimizing new updates for newer iPhones while leaving older models with diminished performance.

Morgan’s perspective is that iOS 17 was primarily crafted with the iPhone 15 in mind, which inadvertently results in a reduction in the performance of older models, such as the iPhone 13. Despite Apple’s frequent insistence on keeping devices up to date, Morgan posits that older iPhone users may not genuinely benefit from this particular update. He suggests that Apple has adhered to a similar approach since the era of the iPhone 4, concentrating on newer models and affording lesser attention to the older ones.

Apple, queried by the New York Post about Morgan’s assertions, has yet to respond. Morgan’s concern is that iOS 17 might technically function on older iPhones, but it could lead to a slower and more troublesome user experience. He raises apprehensions about older iPhone owners possibly needing to recharge their devices three to four times a day as a result of this update.

Morgan’s counsel to iPhone users is to assess their current device’s performance before embarking on an update. If their existing version is functioning smoothly, he recommends sticking with it. He posits that new iOS updates are primarily designed with new phones in mind, which can leave individuals with older models feeling as though their still relatively recent devices have become outdated.

While certain TikTok users have reported a seamless experience with iOS 17 on their older devices, Morgan’s warning acts as a reminder that adopting the latest iOS update may not consistently benefit older devices. Consequently, it is vital to carefully weigh the advantages and drawbacks before deciding to proceed with the update.
