Internet Explorer will be completely removed from Windows 11

Oh, the sweet memories we all had with Internet Explorer. After Windows 10, Internet explorer was joined by Edge and recently with the Chromium-powered Edge. All three browsers are prime examples of how much Microsoft is trying to provide a better browser to help Windows users have a smooth and hassle-free internet experience.

However, the existence of Google Chrome cannot be disregarded by Microsoft, and until by some miracle, Bing becomes a better and friendlier search engine than Google; hopefully, Microsofts new chromium-powered Edge might take over at least Firefox in the browsers race.

But, it seems that after battling for more than a decade, internet explorer is finally retiring. According to the latest sources, one of the oldest browsers in existence will be laid to rest by Microsoft in 2022, and it will disappear completely from Windows 11.

A couple of days ago, Microsoft revealed that Internet Explorer would be “disabled” in Windows 11. It was already announced earlier that Internet Explorer would be discontinued on June 15th, 2022, but many were expecting that the legacy browser would still be around for them to reminisce; however, the latest announcement indicates that it will fully disappear from Windows 11.

“The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will not be available on Windows 11. Microsoft Edge is the default browser for Windows 11. The MSHTML engine exists as part of the Windows 11 operating system to power IE mode in Microsoft Edge.”

Even though Internet Explorer will be discontinued it has been announced that the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) of Windows 10 will still include Internet Explorer next year. But, Windows 11 will fully remove the browser, shortcuts like exploring will be redirected to Microsoft Edge instead.
