Roots in the Heart of the Balkans

Petar Sučić’s story begins far from the grand stadiums of Europe. Born on October 25, 2003, in Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Croatian parents, Petar was raised in the village of Kandija, where pastoral life and football blended into daily routine. His family’s farm and arable fields provided the backdrop for his earliest kicks of the ball—an environment that nurtured both discipline and dreams.

At age nine, he joined NK Sport Prevent, an amateur team in nearby Bugojno. Despite the club’s modest stature, it was the perfect stage for a young boy with ambition. Two years later, he moved to Iskra Bugojno, where he further sharpened his skills and caught the attention of scouts.

Climbing the Ranks: From Local Hope to National Contender

In 2020, Petar made a significant leap by joining Zrinjski Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most decorated football club. His performance over the next two years marked a shift in his trajectory. Then came a pivotal career decision: in January 2022, he joined Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb. Initially placed in their second team, Petar debuted professionally in the Croatian second division, featuring in nine matches.

The turning point arrived in the 2022/23 season when Dinamo loaned him back to Zrinjski. Petar’s impact was immediate and impressive—he helped the club secure both the domestic league title and national cup, while also gaining experience on the European stage. He featured once in the Champions League preliminary rounds and made four appearances in the Conference League qualifiers.

Emergence at Dinamo and Rise to Prominence

Returning to Dinamo Zagreb in 2023, Sučić found a mentor in head coach Igor Bišćan, who recognized his burgeoning talent. Under Bišćan’s guidance, Petar flourished. Dinamo Zagreb had a triumphant 2023/24 season, clinching the league, Croatian Cup, and Super Cup. Sučić played a crucial role, making 42 appearances and scoring twice.

The following season saw the young midfielder take center stage in European competitions. He scored vital goals in the Champions League against Monaco and Slovan Bratislava, affirming his readiness for the big stage. Choosing to represent Croatia internationally, he made his debut and quickly left an impression by scoring in a Nations League fixture against Poland.

In total, Sučić featured in 31 matches during the 2024/25 season and netted seven goals—his most productive campaign to date.

A Versatile Talent with Croatian Legacy

Standing out for his exceptional vision, technical finesse, and tactical adaptability, Sučić is equipped to operate across multiple roles in midfield. He is the cousin of Luka Sučić, who plies his trade with Real Sociedad, and continues a lineage of Croatian players who have left a lasting mark at Inter.

With this move, Petar becomes the eighth Croatian to wear the Nerazzurri jersey, stepping into shoes once filled by Mateo Kovačić and Marcelo Brozović—both instrumental in Croatia’s golden generation that earned back-to-back podium finishes at the FIFA World Cup.
