Chelsea and Inter Milan are in talks for the return of Romelu Lukaku to the Nerazzurri this summer. The Premier League side have told Inter that they want a total loan fee of €10 million plus add-ons.
However, Inter have only offered €7 million plus add-ons for the striker as of yet. An agreement is not in place just yet, but things are moving fast for Chelsea to offload the player so that they can start planning incomings for the summer.
Chelsea and Inter Milan working for Romelu Lukaku transfer
An obligation to buy the player is not being discussed as of right now, and according to Fabrizio Romano, it was never brought up in talks. However, it is very likely that once Romelu Lukaku moves back to Inter, he will not be welcomed back at Chelsea upon the expiry of his loan spell.
Several reports state that Lukaku has been personally pushing to return to Serie A. And that he had been telling Inter staff since Christmas that he would be back with them next year.
Inter are confident of wrapping up the deal by the end of the week, with another meeting scheduled. Todd Boehly is taking care of the transfer negotiations from Chelsea’s side, since Marina Granovskaia has stepped down from her role following the takeover. The new era is officially underway at Chelsea, and it will seemingly start with the departure of the Belgian striker imminently.
